Abbeymead Burglary

Alert message sent 10/09/2021 16:25:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

A house in Upton Lane was entered by smashing glass in the rear door and each room was subjected to a messy search.  The burglars targeted jewellery. The occupants discovered the crime on 5th September after returning from a week away.

It is very important to make your home look as if someone is at home while you are away overnight.  It's a simple matter to obtain a time switch to turn a light on and off during the hours of darkness.  These can be obtained from most DIY and hardware shops and are available for £3 from my office.

The investment in an intruder alarm for your home will give more benefit than CCTV as it will prevent entry to your home or, at the very least, reduce the loss of property.  Face coverings, bulky clothing, poor lighting and tampering with cameras can easily defeat the imagined protection of CCTV.

Please call 101 if you have any information regarding this crime.  Alternatively report information on line at

Please report any suspicious activity straight away and if you believe a crime is being committed dial 999 immediately.
