Begging in Nailsworth

Alert message sent 17/07/2020 12:19:00

Information sent on behalf of Gloucestershire Constabulary

""

We have received a number of complaints recently about young people in Nailsworth begging to obtain money. Reasons given have been to purchase alcohol but also for travel money to enable them to get home.
I think we are all of a mind that we would want to help any-one in difficulty if we could but please bear in mind that money may be being sought dishonestly as some of those implicated actually live in Nailsworth and alcohol being purchased with donations is likely to contribute to   more serious anti-social behaviour and this is starting to have a serious impact on residents as our lives are increasingly moving back to normal after the recent restrictions.
Our request, if you do wish to make a donation, is that you consider offering more practical help such as food. We believe that any cash given is likely to be spent on alcohol or drugs.
If anyone bothers you by asking for money or is being a nuisance outside your home or business please report it to us with as much information as possible; time, date, location. You may even  know who the offenders are.

Non-emergency calls are 101 or you can report the issue direct at https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/ro/report/asb/af/antisocial-behaviour/

Remember, we're unable to accept reports of crime through Your Neighbourhood Alerts.
