Burglary Update

Alert message sent 15/05/2020 14:15:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

The occupants of a house in Fairmile Gardens, Longlevens/Kingholm area of Gloucester were disturbed by banging noises at 9.45pm on the evening of 14th May.  When they investigated they found that the rear patio door glass had been smashed.  The offenders fled from the house once they realised they had been seen and although the house had been entered, nothing appears to be missing.  The offenders had damaged the side gate at the property in order to gain access to the rear garden and the attacked door.

Probably linked to this burglary was another break in reported at 10pm in Marleyfield way in Innsworth.  Again, the occupant was disturbed by the rear patio door being smashed and activation of the intruder alarm.  The offenders were seen to speed from the street in a white coloured 4 x 4 car.

A little while later, a police patrol in Brockworth arrested one male on suspicion of these burglaries.

Please call 101 if you have any information regarding these crimes or saw or heard any unusual activity in the area. When you call please quote incident number 450 of 14th May.  Alternatively report information on line at

If you see or hear anything suspicious report it straight away to 101 or online and if you believe a crime is being committed then dial 999. You can also report information regarding criminal activity anonymously to Crime Stoppers by ringing 0800 555111.

These incidents show the importance of making access to the rear of your home and garden as difficult as possible.  Please lock side gates and make them difficult to climb.  Also, consider your boundaries making them difficult to climb by using prickly plants or anti-climb products such as prickly strips.  These products are now available again from DIY stores and garden centres.

This is the end of the message.
